About

Lilium Boutique Hotel

In brief

What works, what to weigh

+

Strengths

4 reasons to book
  • Staff regularly make the stay — Guests describe a team that helps with early check-in, Borghese Gallery and Vatican Gardens tickets, restaurant picks and even booking the next hotel — and sometimes refuses tips.
  • Breakfast is a genuine highlight — Several guests call it the best breakfast they had in Rome, with gluten-free options, fresh bread and croissants, and a calm, airy dining room.
  • Positioned for sightseeing on foot — The Colosseum is about a 25-minute walk, and guests mention walking easily to the Spanish Steps and Trevi Fountain, with a metro station close by.
  • Clean, characterful rooms — Reviewers note spotless rooms, romantic Italian decor, balconies with flowers and a quiet side away from traffic noise.

Worth weighing

4 to weigh
  • Comfort is the weakest rating — Comfort sits at 7.8, below the hotel's overall 8.6, and one detailed review suggests the bathrooms would benefit from better furniture and fittings.
  • Rooms can feel small for the price — The same review found the room size and price a little disappointing, even while praising the service and breakfast.
  • Check-in ends at 23:00 and pets aren't allowed — The published check-in window is 13:00–23:00, so late arrivals need to plan, and the hotel does not accept pets.
  • Parking is nearby rather than on-site — The property lists a private parking lot nearby, not a hotel garage, so parking isn't directly at the hotel.

“It suited me perfectly, with free Wi-Fi, 24-hour security and a cosy lounge area. I still fondly remember how the staff helped my elderly parents on our first visit. I'd highly recommend their lovely breakfast.”

8.6Verified guest

“A really nice stay with great value for money. The location is favourable and striking, within walking distance of a noisy square, yet the hotel sits in a relatively quiet area close to the metro, places to eat and things to see.”

8.6Verified guest

“The breakfast was classic and had a gluten-free option — the best I had in Rome. The location was convenient: close to public transport, the city centre and the metro station.”

8.6Verified guest

“A fairly clean hotel with terrific rooms and a marvellous location for the tourist sites. Breakfast had a good variety. The hotel is close to Roma Termini, Piazza Venezia and plenty of taxis, and Porta Pia is within walking distance. There were street views and helpful service, good facilities and parking outside.”

8.6Verified guest

“The decor is beautifully Parisian — I know it's Rome — with a garden balcony and an ornate table and chairs. Breakfast brought fresh bread, croissants, fresh juices, cereals, ham or speck and French cheese, served in a light and airy setting. The service at breakfast was polite, unobtrusive and attentive, and reception was friendly and sorted Wi-Fi for me, since I can never part with my laptop or Blackberry. All in all, a pleasant experience on a par with the big chains, and we'd happily recommend it to anyone wanting a very quiet, air-conditioned, Parisian-flavoured stay.”

8.6Verified guest

“Simone was really kind and let us check in early. The room was clean, comfortable and nicely scented, with a small balcony. We walked easily to the Spanish Steps and Trevi Fountain, and the pizza at La Grande Bellezza was the best we had all week.”

04 — Location

Getting around Rome

The property sits in Rome.

The location: The hotel sits on Via Venti Settembre, in the Via Veneto area where old coffee shops and exclusive local spots sit side by side. One review notes it's not the very centre, but close enough, with restaurants and trattorias around the hotel noticeably cheaper than those on the main tourist routes.

Getting around: Guests mention a 10–15 minute walk to Roma Termini, 7 minutes to a metro station and Tritone Fountain, and a short walk to Porta Pia. The Colosseum is about a 25-minute walk away, and the Spanish Steps and Trevi Fountain are also walkable.

Where to eat: A guest singles out La Grande Bellezza for the best pizza of the week, and another praises the staff's restaurant recommendations. Breakfast at the hotel is also frequently mentioned as a highlight.
